This project reacts on the challenges of insufficient access to drinking water and to safe sanitary infrastructure of rural population in the Republic of Moldova. Project also addresses the need to enhance personal hygiene standards among the local population and the lack of preschool education opportunities for children with special educational needs.

The project’s goal is to increase the quality of living conditions in two rural districts, Leova and Causeni, through reaching the following objectives: increasing access to safe drinking water and sanitation in 8 kindergartens, raising awareness of communities in hygiene and environment, and promoting of inclusive education in 8 kindergartens in the same districts.

During the project activities, water purification systems and waste water treatment systems will be installed in 8 kindergartens which will have a positive effect on improved access to safe water and sanitation of children and staff. Promotional and informational campaign will be subsequently organised, partly connected with the project of ADRA Slovakia. This campaign will contain raising awareness workshops on hygiene and environment for staff and children in kindergartens and for their parents, and informational days for public.

The impact of these activities will be scaled up from individual to national level thanks to the wide cover of the project activities. In the inclusive education activities component, a series of training for staff of 8 kindergartens will be organised with a contribution of Czech and Moldovan experts. Meetings with parents in kindergartens will also be held. Capacity building of staff in preschool education will be supported, quality improvement of participating institutions will be enhanced and the accessibility of preschool education for children with special educational needs will be improved.
