The Czech Republic is one of many donors involved in foreign development cooperation around the world. Since 2013, it has been a fully-fledged member of the OECD Development Assistance Committee, through which Czech Development Agency representatives attend expert seminars. The CzDA is a member of the Practitioners’ Network for European Development Cooperation network of European donor agencies. This platform brings together seventeen European development agencies and works closely with the European Commission.
As part of bilateral project implementation, the Czech Development Agency works with a series of foreign donors, such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Slovak Development Agency (SlovakAid), the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Israeli Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV), and many others. Cooperation also takes place at the project level with international organizations like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the central state administration body for foreign policy and, together with the Ministry of the Interior, coordinates the provision of Czech humanitarian aid abroad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinates the preparation and submission of the foreign development aid concept, including the determination of territorial and sectoral priorities and an outlook for the volume and structure of the funding for its provision; the preparation and submission of annual project plans and concurrently the submission of annual assessment reports to the Government of the Czech Republic based on materials from managers and implementers; the negotiation of agreements and cooperation with beneficiary countries; the coordination of development activities with the EU, the OECD and other international organizations; and also the provision of information about and popularisation of Czech foreign development cooperation, including statistical reporting.
Council for Foreign Development Cooperation
The Council’s mission is to ensure the coordination and coherence of foreign development cooperation and to prepare recommendations for the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Council for Foreign Development Cooperation was established on 1 January 2008 as an inter-ministerial coordination body under Resolution of the Government of the CR No 1439 of 19 December 2007. The Council makes statements on all key documents relating to development cooperation, in particular those submitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Government. State administration bodies whose representatives sit on the Council, as well as the rules for its functioning, are defined by the Statute of the Council for Foreign Development Cooperation.
Czech Forum for Development Cooperation – FoRS
The Czech Forum for Development Cooperation is a platform of Czech non-governmental non-profit organizations (NNO) and other non-profit entities focusing on development cooperation, developmental education, and humanitarian aid. The main task of the FoRS is to represent the common interests of its members and strengthen cooperation and relations between state institutions in the CR and the EU and non-government organizations in development cooperation.
Platform of Entrepreneurs for Foreign Development Cooperation
Three large associations – the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, the Association of Engineering Technology, and the Association of the Czech Railway Industry – set up a specially focused non-profit organization – the Platform of Entrepreneurs for Foreign Development Cooperation – to support business activities in developing countries. The Platform searches for active members interested in participating in development projects and working in the Platform’s expert teams as well as in the National Council for Foreign Development Cooperation.
Academic Sector
Those interested in development issues can attend study programs, for example at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, Masaryk University in Brno, Charles University, Palacký University Olomouc, the University of Economics in Prague and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
The Development Cooperation Summer School is an educational project for students. It was established by the Centre of Interdisciplinary Studies at Palacký University Olomouc (today the Department of Development and Environmental Studies) and the CzDA. The CzDA is providing long-term support for this project.

Since 2013, the CzDA has had the status of observer at EUNIDA (European Network of Implementing Development Agencies).
Austrian Development Agency

The CzDA is a member of the open platform Practitioners‘ Network for European Development Cooperation, which serves to transfer experience, harmonization, and coordination among European development project implementers.
USAID and SIDA
Since 2011, the CzDA has actively cooperated with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Czech-UNDP Partnership for Sustainable Development Goals
The idea behind the Czech-UNDP Partnership for Sustainable Development Goals is to transfer Czech experience and innovative solutions that will contribute towards achieving the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals in Foreign Development Cooperation of the Czech Republic priority countries.
A new cooperation strategy was prepared for the 2018–2022 period, targeting its activities at three priority countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia and Moldova) and four thematic areas (good governance and the principles of the rule of law; sustainable management of natural resources; economic transformation and development; and agriculture and rural development).
