(DOBA REALIZACE)
The University of Health Sciences (UHS) and the Institute of Technology (ITC) have established a new degree programme "Associate degree in Medical Engineering". The first students of this programme are already completing their studies to become biomedical engineers; however, the limited number of teachers, experience and lack of laboratory equipment still does not allow to implement the teaching fully. At the same time, the general public and hospital staff have no awareness of the biomedical engineering profession and do not know how important this profession is to the health care system. The intention of this project is therefore mainly to: 1. to increase the number of youth and adults who have the relevant skills and knowledge, including technical and professional skills, which will be a prerequisite for gaining decent employment, by educating lecturers and students of UHS and ITC, providing equipment for practical training and providing educational materials; 2. to inform the society and improve its awareness of the position of the biomedical engineer and his/her role and importance by organizing an international conference, creating promotional and advertising materials and establishing a website on biomedical engineering; 3. To raise the level of the "Associate Degree in Medical Engineering" program by opening a special laboratory to enable practical teaching of subjects on medical devices and by training lecturers in this field, and at the same time to help to prepare documents for accreditation of the programme from "Associate" to "Bachelor" and to implement biomedical engineering position in the job tables of the state health system.
