(DOBA REALIZACE)
Project is aimed at decreasing negative impact of waste water on the environment and the health of the population and at ensuring a sustainable system of waste water treatment in the town of Vulcăneşti in Moldova. Waste water treatment system in Vulcăneşti is in a very bad state. There are frequent leaks in the canalization system and pumping stations are absent or on the verge of breaking down. The waste water drained from the STP into the natural recipient is very contaminated. The waste water further contaminates the sources of the utility and drinking water and has a negative impact on the environment.

Unsuitable situation in the area of sanitation has a negative influence on the health of population. The reconstruction of the two pumping stations and STP will take place in the frame of the project. Simultaneously with the reconstructive works, the employees of the Water line and Canalization (W&C) of Vulcăneşti will be trained in maintenance of the equipment. Also a complete plan of long-term development of W&C of Vulcăneşti will be prepared.

Furthermore, the educational campaign, aimed at the population and the main industrial producers of the waste waters, will be conducted. The municipality of Vulcăneşti will contribute to the realization of the project through the in-kind inputs of construction works during the reconstruction of STP and pumping stations of waste waters.

The preparatory works, coordination with the recipients of the assistance, data mining and field examinations together with presentation of planned activities for the public and purchase of parts of the technological equipment for the STP reconstruction took place in 2010 and 2011. The reconstruction started in 2012. Construction works and installment of the equipment was finished in 2013.
