The development objective of the project is to improve the environment and health situation of the population in Moldova through the reduction of negative impacts of old environmental burdens - remnants of obsolete pesticides deposited in the central district warehouses.
The main goals of the project are repackaging of obsolete pesticides gathered in the various central district warehouses, their final disposal and verification of the extent and risks of residual pesticides contamination.The project actively involves experts from the Ministry of Environment and other relevant institutions. This will ensure the necessary transfer of know-how in the field of disposal of old environmental burdens.
In 2014 the key project activities were completed: inventory of pesticides, transfer into suitable containers, loading and hauling, removal of 250 tons of obsolete pesticides including providing all of necessary legal requirements and cleaning of warehouses' constructions.
