The project focused on the southern, central and northern parts of the Republic of Moldova, where it provided expert advice on the cultivation of fruit and vegetables to six selected groups of farmers. The project saw the establishment of six production-sales cooperative associations with a total amount of at least 60 farmers. The farmers received training not only in advanced technologies of fruit and vegetable production, but also in the formulation of strategic development, production and marketing plans. Additionally, the project sought to further support the association by supplying small machinery, greenhouses, irrigation systems and other agricultural materials. The project also provided assistance with market analysis, organizing courses on marketing, drafting business plans and helped adapt the Marketing Information System (MIS) to the needs of producers and processors of fruit and vegetables.
