The project is in accordance with contemporary priorities of partner organizations and is fully consistent with the recommendations of the European Commission in regards to food security. Simultaneously, the project follows up on past projects in the field of agriculture and rural development in the country. The aim of the project is to contribute to a better food security, responsible agricultural manufacture and provide access to food that is harmless to health. Higher food security will have a positive impact on the reduction of diseases stemming from harmful foods and, simultaneously, will improve the environment by not burdening the soil with agrochemicals. Thanks to the project, more types of food in Bosnia and Herzegovina will fulfill the food security requirements and will be eligible for export to the EU. The aim of the project is to strengthen the role of competent authorities in the field of food security control. Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to divide and specify the responsibilities of respective state institutions and set up appropriate methods and approaches in the field. The project is in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal No.16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) in that it focuses on supporting the effectiveness and transparency of institutions on various levels. The aim of the project since 2020 is to strengthen the role of competent authorities and provide for sufficient food control in the country. The project will set up appropriate methods and systems in three fields of control: pesticides and fertilizers, salmonella and additives.
