Under the overarching objective of increasing competitiveness and effectiveness in agriculture, this project aims to enhance education in the wine sector. Wine has a long tradition in Moldova and represents a major exporting sector which has yet to reach its full potential. However, its development is being limited by several challenges, one of them being a deficiency in labour, namely specialists with sufficient education in vine growing and winemaking.

To reverse the situation and kick-start positive development, the project will help optimize Viticulture and Oenology programmes at selected colleges. Close cooperation with grape producers and wine processors will be an essential component in the elaboration of the programmes to ensure a link between the educational system and labour market.

Staff of selected colleges will receive training in general education practices and most importantly in teaching specialized subjects and practical skill to help them further increase their skills and expertise. Czech experts will also provide assistance to the school management with drafting a business plan for the use of college land. To ensure high quality of the education and to some extent also to help carry out the strategy identified in the plan, selected colleges will be provided with teaching supplies and small mechanization.
