The project reacts to current needs in the forestry sector and will contribute to the sustainable management in the forests of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), which is also one of the goals of the Bosnian strategy for forestry development.

In the first year of the project, two cable logging systems will be delivered to beneficiary. Subsequently, Czech experts will train selected personnel to operate and maintain the systems. Additionally, several Bosnian experts will receive training in site preparation and operation planning. After successfully completing the training, trainees will have sufficient knowledge to act as trainers in the future. The project will raise awareness of the technology, among relevant companies and institutions in BiH in order to highlight its advantages and use for ecological forest management and timber harvesting, even in currently inaccessible areas.

Additionally, the project will help improve forest policy decisions by streamlining technological methods for collection, management and use of forestry data. This concerns mainly mobile data collection and the use of GIS/RS methods. Project goals will be met by establishing technological workplaces for the collection, management and use of data about the current status and development of forest ecosystems; introducing new working practices and methodology for implemented technology and capacity building. Individual workplaces will be linked into a single technological line including data collection, processing, generation of outputs and their presentation, both for the elaboration of forestry management plans and drafting annual timber harvest plans.

The project will also include an awareness component to raise wider support for related issues and introducing new technologies among relevant stakeholders.
