The project will aim at improvement of environment, biodiversity and health of population in Lunga and Mărculeşti villages in Moldova through remediation of contamination from the former Soviet airbase Mărculeşti. Scoping Study, commissioned by the Czech Development Agency in autumn 2009, identified the extent and sources of contamination. As a follow up a detailed study aiming at precisely assessing the sources, spread and extent of contamination was carried out, followed by installation of monitoring probes in areas potentially threatened by contamination.

In specific this project being a follow up after the project: Remediation of Contamination from the Former Soviet Airbase Mărculeşti will focus on modification of current sanitation station (within the Váha locality), implementation of exploratory, sanitation and infiltration objects, implementation of three new sanitation stations, training and technical support to a local personnel, continuous monitoring and evaluation, six months semi-operation of above mentioned stations, technical supervision and support in use of stations until the end of project; informative campaign for local population.
