The aim of the project is to strengthen capacities and cooperation with partner organizations and thus secure a sustainable development of mountain service in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Currently there are many mountainous places that are inaccessible due to poor communication quality and the voluntary nature of mountain rescue teams even though the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina is three-quarters comprised of mountains. The main project outputs will be the strengthening of cooperation with the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Association of Mountain Rescue Services of Bosnia and Herzegovina and other mountain rescue services (GSSs), competence-strengthening of mountain service members by educating their methodologists, and increase in mountain rescue equipment through identification, purchase and distribution of necessary equipment. The secondary aim of the project is the development of preventive measures for safe mountain travel, for example, by improving the current signs and markings on hiking trails, providing lectures in schools, organizing Open Days at mountain service stations or propagating safe movement in mountains and protection of environment. The outcome of the project should be an overall increase in quality of rescue of both the residents and tourists in mountainous areas and an overall decrease of incidents.
