The Serbian city of Čačak and the Czech town of Valašské Meziříčí have long-term partnerships. The aim of this project is to improve municipal waste management in the city of Čačak using the experience of Valašské Meziříčí, which has a well-functioning waste management system. In 2017, a team of Czech experts went on an expert trip to Serbia, where they learned about the current state of waste management in Čačak. Based on the accumulated knowledge and information, they elaborated an analysis of current municipal waste management and the waste management proposal for the city of Čačak, which, on the basis of good practice from Czech cities, presents possibilities for improving the system of waste recycling. This proposal was personally handed over by the Czech experts as part of another expert trip to Serbia in 2018. In the course of the discussion, the procedure for the introduction of semi-underground containers as part of the development of the waste separation system was discussed, as well as modifications to the plans and schedules for its more efficient use. The project was successfully completed in 2018.
