Ukraine is facing the long-term effects of the war in terms of rebuilding destroyed infrastructure, improving living conditions and strengthening local communities. IDPs, returnees and members of host communities have limited access to necessary services and opportunities, which slows down the reconstruction process. Local authorities, civil society organisations and youth groups face challenges in terms of capacity and coordination, which hinders effective management of recovery and the development of a sustainable and inclusive environment.
The project implemented by the Vidnova consortium, consisting of People in Need (CHN), Legal Development Network (LDN) and Stabilization Support Services (SSS), aims to address these challenges in Mykolaiv and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of local governments and IDP Councils to support an inclusive and transparent recovery process. The project will also enable communities, including youth structures, to actively participate in community and green reconstruction. The key outputs of the project are the development of local recovery plans with active community participation, youth empowerment through financial and technical support for their initiatives, and training in sustainable development. This approach is in line with the Ukrainian government's strategy for the period 2024-2027, which promotes participatory and green regeneration.
