Climate change is undoubtedly one of the most serious challenges of our time, the impacts of which will be felt by all in the future. Awareness of this issue, as well as of the consequences that our daily choices and actions may have, is still insufficient in our society. In recent years, young people have become actively involved in civic life and have been urgently drawing attention to the threats posed to them by the current neglect of the climate crisis. This project therefore aims to encourage them to do so and to motivate other actors who have not yet been reached.

"On the mind" is a non-profit organisation working on global sustainability, climate change and related environmental aspects. One of the main activities of the organisation is the organisation of the "Earth on a Plate" festival of documentary films on the environment, food and climate change. With this in mind, it renews the relationship between urban populations and the environment, supports and motivates individuals on their path towards a responsible lifestyle and makes these steps easier for them. The vision of On the Mind is for all residents to adopt a lifestyle based on a shared respect between their community and the environment, for a thriving planet and a sustainable future.

The intention is to positively motivate and support young people in the eight EU Member States to engage in activities aimed at tackling climate change. Through the project, young people will become aware of the challenges facing society and planetary ecosystems in the context of climate change, better understand the contexts and impacts on people's lives, on ecosystems in Europe and in the Global South, and become more and more actively involved in solutions to mitigate climate change in line with the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

The aim is to raise awareness about climate change, its impact on ecosystems and ecosystem services and the impact of these impacts on the lives of the planet's inhabitants among young people in the eight EU Member States involved in the project. A further objective is to encourage young people to actively engage in individual and systemic changes to mitigate climate change and to spread this awareness and examples of good practice to other, as yet unreached, citizens. Integral to the project is the promotion and development of global development education, with particular emphasis on a climate justice perspective linking human rights, social justice and general principles of equity with the economic transformation of developed countries to ensure environmental sustainability.

The project "Playing for Climate! Ahead of Climate Change" is implemented within an international consortium of 10 partners from 8 European countries.

In addition to the communication campaign, key outputs of the project include the increase of young people's professional competence and their involvement in individual and collective activities in line with the project objective.
