Technically, the project is focused on cooperation in the field of soil protection, particularly against erosion, protection and development of water resources and increase of the level of sanitation. Project activities include implementation of two main groups of measures, erosion control and water management. Proper application of these measures will improve the ecological stability of the area, improving water and sanitation and increase food security of local residents. Territorially is the project targeted in districts of Awassa Zuriya Wereda and Alaba Special Wereda in the South Nations, Nationalities and People's Region (SNNPR).

Antierosion measures are applied in Awassa Zuriya Wereda district in the area of kebeles Lebu Koromo and Umbullo Kajima, building on the outputs of previous Czech Development Cooperation (CDC) projects. Practically, the implemented erosion control measures work include the following sets of activities: evaluation of the current condition of land degradation and identifying areas of greatest risk in terms of susceptibility to soil erosion, design of concrete erosion control measures, purchase of seeds and materials necessary for cultivating and planting seedlings, grow seedlings in the nursery based under the previous CDC project, planting seedlings, application of technical anti-erosion measures.

Water management of the project is implemented in the district of Alaba Special Wereda, where the water management measures include the following set of activities: assessing the feasibility of rehabilitation of nine non-functioning boreholes, repair of minimum three non-functional boreholes, extension of distribution system of potable water about other water distribution points and further extending the water supply, establishment of minimum 12 rainwater retention systems, construction of minimally 12 latrines and washing facilities, and the purchase and distribution of minimum 5000 hygienic sets (soap, jerry cans). Throughout the three-year project will continuously run educational and capacity building activities.
