The project contributed to solving the problem of the lack of qualified, practically-oriented experts in the field of agricultural production. The project was implemented in cooperation with a partner organization of the beneficiary – Centre for Vocational Education in Darkhan (CVE).
The aim of the project was to increase capacity for and improved quality of vocational education in Mongolia with emphasis placed on the region of Darkhan Uul. The objective was achieved through implementation of the following outputs. An analysis of the current situation in the institutions providing vocational agricultural education was carried out. The results of the analysis contributed not only to the implementation of other outputs, but also served as a scientific basis for national and local authorities engaged in development of agricultural vocational education. A two-and-a-half-year-long apprentice program was introduced aimed at repairing and maintenance of agricultural machinery.
Also, two three-month courses focused on farming, storing, and processing of food were carried out. Both of these educational programs were supported by establishing new premises for practical training. During the project, a system of vocational agricultural education in the CVE was established. Teaching and official documents were provided, together with teaching materials and didactic tools to support modern approaches to the educational process. Also, teachers of vocational subjects were provided; they were given adequate training to increase mainly their didactic competencies. The training could also be attended by other teachers from the CVE. Moreover, cooperation with the advisory center named "Business Incubator Center" (BIC) in the field of agricultural production was established. The agricultural advisers were given training on current topics. Management, monitoring, and educational activities were carried out throughout the entire implementation of the project.
