After the resolution of the Czech government no. 167 in 12. April 2014 focusing on providing Ukraine with help with restoration and support with democratic transformation in 2014-2016, the main focus of development aid has been on education sector.
Within the following the standards of European Union the education system in Ukraine goes through the period of many reforms and new legislative adjustments. Czech Republic embassy in Kiev is the coordinator of donors in the field of education and is in regular contact with Ministry of Education and Science in Ukraine, which is giving the information about its current needs in this field.
Apart from legislative and system reforms Ukrainian education system faces problems with lack of finance for operation of evacuated education institutions. These institutions were located in areas controlled by pro-Russian separatists and they were moved to area within Ukrainian administration. Most of the equipment of those institutions were left in former seats and confiscated by separatists. According to Ministry of Education and Science 17 state universities have been evacuated.
According to facts stated above Czech Development Agency focuses on two main areas:
- increasing expertise of Ukrainian administration
- material support for Ukrainian education institution
