The project is realized in cooperation with USAID in the frame of the US program “Emerging Donors Challenge Fund”, American part pays roughly the same amount, as CzDA. The local partner of the project is the Union Alternative. The aim of the project is to improve the Georgian professional capacities in the area of addictology. The purpose of the project is to create culturally sensitive modules for education in the area of addictology in the twelve different areas, including the monitoring and analysis of the drug situation (according to the EU standards). Project will aim at creating the curriculum of the university study program Addictology, which will be based on the educational modules, developed in the frame of teaching the program Addictology at the 1st Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Prague. These modules will nevertheless be revised and adapted to the Georgian conditions, in order to fulfill the educational needs in this environment. The implementation of the system of the lifelong education for professionals, working in the addictology services, institutionalization of university research department for interdisciplinary research, and monitoring in the area of addictology are among the further goals of the project. Implementation of the project started in 2012; the Memorandum of Understanding between the CzDA and USAID on the joint implementation of the project was signed in July. The experts have been working since September on the conclusion of the first draft of curriculum, and three universities signed an agreement on cooperation. The training of the Georgian professionals took place in Prague in November, 2012.
