The project responds to the low level of educational achievements of children in the Cuemba District. It focuses on dissemination and implementation of Angolan Educational reform in the rural areas of the District. The project aims at strengthening academic and professional capacity of primary school teachers, directors and representatives of local education authorities so that the principles, objectives and methods of curriculum reform and improved quality of teaching process are sustainably put into practice. The activities focus on long-term in-service teacher training. Upon its completion, the training participants have accomplished basic obligatory teacher level and have significantly improved their competencies and practical skills in teaching and learning methods, objectives and content of the Educational reform. In the framework of the project, new educational materials are being developed, reflecting requirements and needs of pupils and teachers in rural areas. The project establishes a foundation for self-sufficient networks of pedagogical support for teachers (cluster schools network), which contributes to the dissemination of the principles and objectives of the new Educational reform. The project gained support of all relevant governmental partners at national, provincial and district level.

The project is implemented within a broader concept aiming at development of Cuemba (and N´Harea) districts in the areas of education and livelihoods between the years 2010 - 2014, majority-funded by the Spanish governmental agency for development AECID.
