The municipality of Osečina is located in the northern part of Serbia. More concretely, the municipality is situated alongside the arterial road between two cities of western Serbia, Valjevo and Loznica, approx. 32 km northwest of Valjevo. The total population of the municipality of Osečina is about 15,000 of which about 4,500 inhabitants live in the town as such. The area of the municipality is approx. 319 km2.

The aim of this development project is to connect the town district of Belotić to the drinking water distribution system of the town of Osečina. The town district of Belotić is located in the north of Osečina, on the road to the town of Pecka. Belotić is currently facing considerable difficulties in supplying drinking water due to a reduction in groundwater levels in wells that are now the only source of drinking water for the local population.

The town of Osečina draws water from underground wells (springs) that is delivered by a pipeline to the main reservoir from which drinking water is then distributed by gravity to the water network. The water quality meets the Serbian hygiene standards. The implementation of this project will connect the town district of Belotić to the main town water system through a new water supply of a length of approx. 3 km. The town of Osečina has already prepared a project plan for the project documentation in 2006.

During this project, there will be updated and finalised the original project plan for the new water supply according to current information and a technical assistance will also be provided to the partner organisation to ensure all construction permits. The town of Osečina, which is the promoter of the project, will contribute to the implementation by ensuring all permits, coordinators and supervisors of the construction in accordance with the Serbian law and the provision of construction works (earthworks and construction of shafts).
