The intention of the project was to contribute to an inclusive society in which every citizen lives a dignified life and whose rights are respected and fulfilled. The main objective of the project was to improve the civic competences of children and young people through the use of fair football as an effective tool for global development education (GDE), while increasing the participation of children and young people in political and social life at local, regional and international level. "Football for Development" was a sport and GDE project aimed at developing civic competences of children and young people outside formal education. The year-long educational cycle of the project included talks on good practices of Global South organizations, fair play football tournaments and GDE workshops for children and youth in cooperation with organizations working with youth in the field of non-formal education. The culmination of the training programme was an active regional engagement followed by a month-long tour of the international youth football ambassador team in selected regions of the country.
