The project is focused on increasing the expertise of experts working in geological sciences. As part of this project, experts from the Czech Geological Survey go to Ethiopia for one to two weeks every year, where they give extensive training to local partners. The course in 2017 consisted of a theoretical and practical part and focused on geological mapping in the areas of structural geology, petrology, mineral exploration and geophysics. Emphasis was placed on acquiring the basic skills of geological mapping on a detailed scale, understanding the basic principles of collecting terrain data and the ability to process and interpret this data. A part of the teaching was also the integration of geological mapping methods with GIS approaches and Earth exploration. During 2018, the project focuses mainly on geological hazards. In particular, the content of the courses will be an introduction to applied geomorphology and fragile tectonics, on the basis of which experts will be able to analyse processes and susceptibility to geological hazards. By the end of 2018, the project will be completed.
