The majority of Zambian farmers operates on small- to medium-scale. The primary issues that they face are their inexperience with modern methods, lack of quality inputs and lack of business proficiency. This directly reflects to lower productivity in rural areas, insufficient incomes, much needed investments and even support of livelihood for farmers´ families. The project focuses on strengthening business knowledge, increasing incomes and living standards of small- and medium-scale farmers in Western Province, Zambia. The capacities of these farmers are strengthened in order to establish a proper management of animal and plant production, ensure their integration and practical application in farming areas. The pilot breeding farm under construction will serve the farmers as a source of quality breeds and seeds. An integral part of the project are the anti-erosion and afforestation measures that will lead to higher sustainability of developing agricultural activities in the region.
