The main aim of the project is to contribute towards environmental protection and increase of citizens’ life standard in Fushe Kosovo municipality. The project supports endevear of Kosovar government to ensure cleaning of wastewater in accordance with EU directives. The main objective of the project is to construct a wastewater treatment plant in town of Harilaçi, which is located circa 8 kilometres from the capital Prishtina. Further the project focuses on training for employees of the wastewater treatment plant as well as on raising awareness campaign on environmental protection.

In course of the project a technical assistance will be delivered which should lead to decrease pollution in wastewater and ensure longterm sustainable system of wastewater management. Futhermore the implementation of this project will lead to decrease polution in surface water caused by sewage waters as well as to decrease possibilities of water transmitted deseases spread. The construction of waste water treatment plant also constributes to improvement of environment at the locality which in proximity of road leading from the capital to the international airport. The side effect of the project is therefore also tourism development. Better quality of surface water will also enable usage of water for agricultural irrigation in the future.

The partner organizations for this project are Municipality of Fushe Kosovo and Prishtina Regional Water Treatment Company, which will ensure the running of the water treatment plant after the end of the Czech intervention.
