The aim of the project is to create solutions for the development of alternative plant production in arid areas, to obtain the necessary data and establish cooperation with relevant institutions in the recipient country.
In the Buchel area (Ulaan-Uul, Dornogobi) will be elaborated an analysis of the initial situation and development needs in the field of development of plant production and afforestation in arid areas of Mongolia, including the use of mycorrhizal inoculation. Then will be designed appropriate types of protection against sand and dust storms, irrigation methods, focusing especially on saving and efficient use of water and the modularity of the irrigation system, measures against soil salinisation, the use of alternative energy, locality for an advisory center and an exemplary greenhouse, further ensuring good-quality seeds and seedlings, fertilizing plan and optimal crop rotations. Also, the application of products on the market and economic efficiency will be evaluated and steps to maintain, enhance and optimize plant production in the Buchel area will be recommended.
In addition, a center for mycorrhizal inoculation in Ulaan Baatar will be designed, including suggestion of appropriate equipment types, which will be based on the means and in particular climatic conditions of Mongolia (extreme cold, heat, wind, etc.). The focus of the center will be on production, research and education. The project will, in cooperation with the Mongolian party, identify a site for the center for mycorrhizal inoculation and also institutions that will be involved in mycorrhizal inoculation in the future. Component of the project is also a design of construction documents for the center for mycorrhizal inoculuation in Ulaan Baatar.
