Introducing and harnessing innovation, and collaborating across disciplines, is a critical prerequisite for effectively addressing the grand global challenges identified in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Foreign development cooperation (FDC) actors in the Czech Republic have many years of experience in developing and using innovations in their projects in FDC target countries, but in the experience of People in Need and other actors, there are still some barriers to realising the potential of innovation. Lack of sharing of experience and access to information on the latest trends or mutual cooperation between actors from different spheres (NGOs, private and academic) thus hinders the full use of innovation and the improvement of the quality and efficiency of the work implemented within the framework of the FDC.
Therefore, the intention of the project is to contribute to more effective Czech foreign development cooperation through better use of technological innovations designed in cooperation between actors from the non-profit, private and academic sectors.
The outputs of the project will be the creation of a platform for meeting, sharing experiences and establishing new partnerships of NGO, private and academic sector actors involved (or interested in being involved) in the development and use of technological innovations in the framework of FDC projects; as well as improving the capacities of actors through the implementation of trainings focused on various topics on the implementation of innovations in FDC, measuring their impact or the possibility of their replication.
