The project is implemented within the framework of a broader program that seeks to change the perception of women in society by promoting gender balance and equality. The overall objective of the project is to increase women’s participation in governance (leadership and decision making) in the Catholic Church and in the wider Zambian society. The project specifically aims to strengthen the capacity of women in the five participating dioceses to participate in leadership and decision making; to address some of the barriers that hinder women and girls in the participating dioceses from freely participating in leadership and decision making in the Church and wider society; to influence existing and future Zambian Catholic Church leaders to adopt and promote principles of gender balance in Church governance in the wider Zambian society.
