The project is primarily focused on improving the quality of higher education in Zambia, through the transfer of know-how in science, research and pedagogy between the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CULS, FTA) and Barotseland University in Mongu (BUM), West Province of Zambia. The aim of the project is to evaluate and improve the current state of scientific and research skills and the quality of teaching at BUM and also to strengthen its role in the field of development of the province. The project foresees the evaluation of existing scientific results and study programmes, especially for agricultural-orientated study programmes and established research objectives, which are largely orientated towards sustainable farms and market potential. The evaluation will be followed by direct teaching of FTA academic staff in selected subjects and setting up internal processes to improve the quality of academic activities. Last but not least, the project will focus on mapping the current cooperation of the university with practice, i.e. local government and economic entities, institutions and farmers themselves, as well as NGOs.
