The project aims to enhance sustainable livelihoods and food security in Zare district, Afghanistan. Targets will be achieved through more efficient management of natural resources on the river Zare offering access on both, the community level and also on the household level.

At the community level, the capacities of local development councils will be increased to more understand the issues of sustainable use of resources and also to be able to plan and implement projects with community character. Furthermore, at the household level the alternatives and complementary livelihoods with less impact on the environment together with tools for reduction of fuel consumption will be presented.
