The project activities and outputs aim at quality increase and expansion of agricultural production in remote Zare District located in the foothills of Hindu Kush in order to ensure sustained improvement of food security in the target area.

In spite of great potential and current demand, insufficient knowledge of farmers remains an impediment to growth of agricultural production in remote rural areas which is followed by low agricultural productivity. The project aims at introducing new crops and agricultural techniques thus diversifying agricultural production.

Capacity building will focus on an understanding to technologies of water and soil protection as well as improvement of existing planting, harvesting and other management practices, for example maintenance of orchards. Attention is given especially to horticultural products and oilseeds which are blessed with great potential and at the same time they are suitable for cultivation in local climatic conditions.
