The aim of this project is to improve the quality of maternal and child health with focus on preventing malnutrition in children in Cambodia. The indicators for maternal and child health for the target area of Kampong Chhnang Province are very poor in comparison to the national average, particularly for neonatal mortality and nutrition indicators as outlined in the Cambodian Demographic Health Survey of 2010. To address this problem, the activities of this project will focus on three key areas:

1) improving the quality of maternal and child health care delivered through the formal health system through capacity building,

2) community engagement activities – either through direct face-to-face education sessions at the village level or through the use of mobile technology, and

3) providing management and treatment of malnourished children identified within the community.
