The project implemented in close cooperation with five local non-governmental organizations aims to sustainably improve livelihoods of 17,200 poor farmers (at least 12,900 women and youth) living in the rural areas of Kampong Chhnang and Pursat provinces while not undermining their natural environment due to enhanced demand for and supply of community-based veterinary, animal husbandry and marketing services. Local farmers face to insufficient access to veterinary services. Village Animal Health workers lack qualifications and experience in provision of these services, thus they aren’t able to ensure appropriate veterinary care. Veterinary promotion campaigns, practical training focused on women and youth farmers, capacity building of VAHWs, OAHPs and local partners along with linking with companies/shops with veterinary products represent an effective solution to the current situation in terms of the proposed project by People in Need.
